EDEx Educators

EDEx seeks dynamic, innovative K-12 educators excited to learn more about design thinking and its application for teaching and learning. If this describes you, consider joining the 2018-2019 EDEx Educators cohort!

EDEx Educators is a yearlong cohort-based training in design thinking for K-12 teachers. This year’s EDEx Educators cohort will kick-off with a three-day conference and workshop including attendance at Raleigh's Hopscotch Design Festival. The kick-off will be followed by a series of “Mentor Meetings” held at inspirational design locations in downtown Raleigh. Participants will hear from design thinking experts, practice using design thinking tools, collaborate in hands-on activities, and develop lesson ideas. As a capstone experience, each participant will develop a project that applies design thinking as a tool to improve teaching and learning in their school.

Participation Includes:

  • Learning through 7 workshops and conferences for over 40 hours of experiential and inspiring PD
  • Coaching and mentoring from award winning educators, designers, and innovators
  • Networking with innovative educators and community partners
  • Development of design thinking mindset and toolbox to create innovative solutions to complex, real-world problems
  • Capstone design thinking project that improves teaching and learning in your school
  • Attendance at Hopscotch Design Festival ($250 value)

Cost: $750 per teacher, $650 for NC's public school teachers*. (Due upon acceptance to the program. Fee includes Hopscotch Design Festival registration, as well as meals and resources for all workshops and meetings.) *UPDATE: Grant funding is providing a $100 discount to NC's public school teachers.
